English Communication Program - Fall 2017 - Grad Conversations (10 week series)

About the ECP

CIE's English Communication Program (ECP) is a non-credit program that gives U of T students who speak English as a second language the opportunity to further develop their communication skills in English, gain insight into Canadian culture and life at U of T, and share cross-cultural experiences.

Classes are facilitated by volunteers with teaching, cross-cultural, and international experience.

Please take note of the start date, time and duration of the class series you are interested in (some classes start in a different week or end at different times due to availability of instructors).

Most classes take place at CIE (Cumberland House, 33 St. George St.).

Grad Conversations (GradC1)

This series of classes is specifically geared towards international graduate students at U of T. The goal is to increase confidence in spoken English in research and in everyday life. The conversations will include topics that range from public speaking skills and networking strategies, to exploring Canadian culture and stress-relieving activities in and around Toronto. Participants will also have opportunities to share their graduate life experiences with other international peers and build new friendships.
This series is on Thursdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm starting September 28.

Attendance policy
Due to the high demand for our classes and out of respect for the many students who wish to take our classes but cannot get in, we have implemented the following attendance policy:
If you miss two sessions without notifying your instructor or the ECP office you will be dropped from the class and a student from the waiting list will be admitted in your place.

Refund policy
No refunds will be given after the second scheduled class, or due to class cancellation.
Please also note that refunds are only processed once per month.

If you are a new Book IT user, you are advised to register with the system in advance of the registration. Your UTORid and password are required to use the system.

If you have an accessibility requirement or special circumstance and would prefer to register in person, please contact our office at 416-946-7567 and we will do our best to accommodate you.
